A healthy life equals a beautiful life, this is the message that Miss Seychelles…Another World 2014 Camila Estico passed on to students of the Mont Fleuri secondary school today, after she spend a while with them, bringing more awareness on the importance of having a healthy lifestyle.

Miss Estico was speaking during a ceremony held at the school, whereby she handed over her healthy lifestyle brochures which have been proudly sponsored by Rotary Club Victoria-Coco de mer Seychelles.

The organisation has donated around 2,000 copies of brochures which will be distributed in schools and Mont Fleuri secondary was the first school to receive them.

The brochure gives details on obesity, the Seychelles Food Guide, advice on how to stay healthy and on how to keep a food diary to monitor what is being eaten.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the school’s head Rose-Marie Violette said it is a privilege for Mont Fleuri secondary to be part of the project.

Addressing the students, teachers and representatives from the Seychelles Tourism Board who were present, Mrs Violette said being healthy is not just you eat, it is about the choices you make and how you take care of your body.

“People are reluctant to make changes. We need to change the way we eat and we need to stay physically active and change some of our habits,” she added.

Miss Estico gave an overview of the brochure’s content and then got the students to share their own experience on what they do to live a healthy life.

At the end of the ceremony, the students also took a pledge to strive to be a young generation with healthy lifestyles.
